Language Arts 8

     In this class, we will address the “big picture” areas of reading, thinking, and writing. We will read with an eye toward “critical analysis” so that students may “deepen their understanding of the ways writers use language to provide both meaning and pleasure for their readers” (College Board). Sounds tough, doesn't it? That's just a fancy way of saying that students will read between the lines and be delighted with what they find.

     After close reading and in-depth consideration of various literary elements, students will express their thoughts through a variety of writing assignments. In addition to the “big picture” ideas, we will focus on grammar skills, vocabulary, public speaking, and READING.
