Course Description

WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL! WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO A GREAT YEAR OF GETTING FIT!
 
August 12 - August 16
*We will go over our policies and procedures in the gym.  We will give students their assigned seats for class. We will also go over Fire Drill procedures.
*Students will bring home a Policies and Procedures/Health Form for a parent and student to fill out, sign, and return as soon as possible to your P.E. coach.
 
August 19 - August 23
*We are dressing out and exercising! Students will stretch, warm up, and run. We will work on proper form and technique and begin building our endurance through running.
 
August 26 - August 30
*We are starting our Fitness Gram testing as a Pre Test. Students will test in sit ups, push ups, pull ups, sit and reach test. We will test on our Mile Run in a few weeks.
 
September 3 - September 6
*We are starting our unit on Soccer. Students will learn how to dribble and pass the ball.
*We are also running the 20 meter Pacer test for September.
 
September 9 - September 13
*We are continuing our unit on Soccer. Students will learn how to shoot the ball. We will also play games of soccer in class.
*We are also running the 20 meter Pacer test for September.
 
September 16 - September 20
*Study guides have been posted in Schoology. Students will take their test in P.E. the first day they come to P.E. on the week of September 23rd.
*We are continuing our unit on Soccer.  Students will play games of Soccer.
 
September 23 - September 27
*Students will take their Soccer test the first day they come to P.E. this week.
*We will be playing games of soccer.
 
September 30 - October 4
*We are starting our unit on Pickleball. 
*Students need to watch the iMovie on Pickleball that is in Schoology before coming to P.E. so they can learn the rules and strategies of the game.  
*Students will learn the forehand and backhand shots.
*We will be running the practice mile this week.
 
October 7 - October 11
*We are continuing our unit on Pickleball.
*Students will learn the underhand serve.
*We will be running the Mile Run this week.
 
October 14 - October 18
FALL BREAK! HAVE A GREAT FALL BREAK!!
 
October 21 - October 25
*We are running the Mile Run this week for those classes that did not get to do it before Fall Break.
 
October 28 - November 1
*We are starting our unit on Ultimate Frisbee. Students will learn the backhand throw, the pancake catch, the two-handed catch, and the one-handed catch. Students will also learn an overview of the game and how it's played.
 
November 4 - November 8
*We are continuing our unit on Ultimate Frisbee. Students will learn the forehand throw. Students will begin to play games this week. 
 
November 11 - November 15
*We are playing games of Ultimate Frisbee.  Students in 3 day or 5 day PE will take a test in Ultimate Frisbee this Friday. Study guides are in Schoology.
 
November 18 - November 22
*We are playing games of Ultimate Frisbee.
 
November 25 - November 29
*HAVE A HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
 
December 2 -  December 6
*We are running the 20 meter Pacer for December.
*We are playing Ultimate Frisball in P.E.
 
December 9 - December 13
*We are playing Scooter Hockey in P.E. 
 
December 16 - December 20
*We are playing games/activities in P.E.

January 7 - 10
*We are reviewing Policies and Procedures in the gym.
*We are running the 20 meter Pacer for January.
 
January 13 - January 17
*We are starting our unit on basketball. Students will learn the triple threat position. 
*We will teach dribbling this week -- control dribble and speed and dribble. 
 
January 21 - January 24
*We are continuing our unit on basketball.  Students will learn passes -- chest pass, bounce pass, and overhead pass.
 
January 27 - January 31
*We are continuing our unit on basketball. Students will learn how to shoot the ball.
 
 
February 3 - February 7
*We are continuing our unit on basketball. Students will apply the skills of dribbling, passing, and shooting to games of basketball in P.E.
*We are also running the 20 meter Pacer for February.
 
February 10 - February 14
*We are continuing our unit on basketball.  Students will apply the skills of dribbling, passing, and shooting to games of basketball. 
 
 
February 18 - February 21
*We are starting our unit on volleyball. Students will learn the underhand serve.
 
February 24 - February 28
*We are continuing our unit on volleyball. Students will learn the bump pass.
*Study guides are posted in Schoology.  3-Day classes and 5-Day classes will take their test next week in P.E. 
 
March 2 - March 6
*We are continuing our unit on volleyball. Students will learn the set pass. 
*3-Day classes and 5-Day classes will take their tests this week.
*We will also run the 20 meter Pacer test for March.
 
March 9 - March 13
*We are continuing our unit on volleyball.  Students will learn the rules, strategies, how to rotate, etc. and will play games of volleyball.
 
March 16 - March 20

As we begin our distance learning, please know that I am here for you if you need anything.  You can email me anytime with questions.  My office hours will be every weekday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  I will be available to answer your emails and any questions you may have about PE.
Take care of yourselves, stay healthy, and try to get outside and enjoy being active in the spring weather!
