  1. Read the short story in CommonLit.
  2. When you finish reading, click CONTINUE at the bottom of the page.
  3. Then click BEGIN ASSESSMENT and answer the seven assessment questions.
  4. Go to Schoology.

Weekly Learning Plan: August 24

This week, we will begin our investigation into the various techniques authors use to create suspense. To that end, students will discuss suspense and other literary elements in Edgar Allan Poe's "The Tell-Tale Heart." We will dip our toes into the waters of formulaic writing by crafting a paragraph. Finally, students will read another suspenseful short story entitled "The Landlady." After reading, they will complete a variety of standards-based activities.
