Welcome Back Kotter football another football team Friday video today we're going to be learning be a better QB like I was answering questions on waiting to be better at certain position so today I thought I'd work with an expert in quarterback training this is Greg Holcomb he is the founder and we're back instructor at Next Level Athletics trains all over the US expat yeah we train order bags from youth right around 5th 6th grade all the way up to Collegiate in anywhere in between we do private one-on-one training we do some group training and then we all Horizon Fire camp which is in Los Angeles in January Orlando in February Dallas in March and then in Chicago we are in June so we have those every year annually and we'll be having those again in 2018 so now greatest show us the five things that we can do to be a better QB so 5 really easy things were going to talk about ball. So where you place the ball free pass the second one is going to be your ball shelf so right after the load position where you create energy for power is there is going to be your base to your throwing platform the force is your weight distribution and then the space is going to be your posture so how you stand at the top of your truck let's get started the first thing we talked about his ball here and there is an understanding but it's easier to the ball back and out faster we totally disagree with that because it takes energy away from the throwing solemn what we want to do is hold the ball right over our growing Tech on left-handed okay and then just got the parts turn to use Matt and show you the eye Yule Ball carrots with his left hand even though he's right-handed okay he's going to drop the ball right down by his side you can leave his biceps and triceps nice and extended and then he's going to take his elbows and then that and bring it right up to his path is going to take his put it right on the football so these are equal opposite and if he turns and shows you that's the ideal ball care if you want a little bit of tilt to it but you wanted right over your sternum and just over your fat that's exactly where you want to hold a football store number to tip the Michelle so I have to wear in the free pass fall Carriage what does it look like right before we're about to drive the ball forward so again I'm going to have Matt take the football okay he's going to set his feet to tell side of his gift for his platform okay so as he goes from his free pass he's going to go back into this load position now the tilt of the ball is basically personal preference okay for regardless you got to come back to generate energy for power this low motivated and then this is the fall shelf that we it's a 90-degree position bicep and tricep are nice and flat the forearm is an extended it doesn't get back less than 90 the tip of the ball is not pointed toward the guy with the knife 90°. it's nice and flat you can have a little bit of tilt of the football they can go straight back and then his non-throwing arm is going to be nice and discipline right across his chest that's the ideal ball scalp so now that we know like fall carriage and the boss shelf why is important I have a 90 degree angle what if I'm kind of out of alignment alignment shelf is beyond 92 at that four arms extended a lot of times you're going to drive this go forward and you're going to slash and come out to the side and what does that do for your cat basically you're throwing sidearm okay if you were behind the line of scrimmage where you've obviously got an offensive line having a low arm slot is going to be a disadvantage for you you can also take change the the path of the ball negatively when you got a slashing motion you going to have less Power Plus accuracy fix me a Lot of Things Fall Apart the way that man has his feet right now is way too narrow Letitia Wright at Arizona football you just won't have the platform the ability that you need to to throw the football take your feet and just set them right outside of your hips okay somewhere like white inside right alongside your shoulders going to have a little bit of bending your knees say not too much okay you want to stay call Flavia a smaller pocket presence has ended what will you do need to have to bend your knees just like any ethletic position the right there is the perfect platform it's your feet police in the ground don't want to play on the balls of your feet you want to have Ground Force you're healed are not off the term legal flat into the turf so I feel like you know we all play backyard football why was play you know real football tackle football but I always feel like the last word destiny why is it that you don't need it do you want to have active why you don't want to have look like you're cemented into the ground but you don't want to file okay because balancing can create first of all the timing of your throat is going to be affected so it's likely as you get into your love is a football if that guy is open in that Split Second and you're polishing around now you've got to let yourself come down then set your feet and throw you do want to have some Mobility right you do want to have your being active but we never want to bounce and then we never I do not a lot but you got a lot with you to go to the store number for point is weight distribution and what that basically means of how much weight is on your back like versus your front light. The ideal position for us is about 60% on your back leg 40% on your front light you want to create round for Okay police in the ground firmly sperm stability and we're going to transition that it's a rotational Force Nomad has a zim Point number one hits it's just outside of his hip okay he wants to feel about 60% in the back about 40% in the front now as he's going to drive his back leg out of the ground to create rotational Force he's going to bring this through and he's going to finish writing this passage bring this back okay if he's on his back like 40% on his front leg it's going to be very difficult for him to strike that fronto and then he's going to come forward and be off balance so again we want to have weight distribution 60 on the back 40 on the front door number 5 point is posture and that really is tying everything together we're going to talk about that foot strike that we just mentioned in the previous point and then we're also going to talk about how the quarterback sets up at the top of his okay so it's Matt took a five-step drop and he just sat in his fifth step we want to have his base just outside of his hips as we talked about him point one we want him to feel that 60% weight on his back leg 40% on his front leg now his back the pasture we don't want to have our weight over our toes and we definitely don't want to sync it back to really you want it's almost like you're kind of sitting in a chair with your spine nice and flat so our ball carriages in the ideal position okay and what we're going to do is we're going to about foot strike and backstroke so as he opens at front foot he's going to also at the same time go into his back to the backstroke or is load position so put strike and backstroke okay while he's maintaining that 60% backlight 40% on his front light so the beginning of the throwing process is going to look pretty similar to that's okay this is pretty darn good okay backstrokin foot strike back stroke and puts right now the rule is you never want to get the elbow above the foot so you never want to go into your backstroke by dropping the football down the tilt of the football is personal preference or ice them quarterbacks like to have that tip right back other quarterbacks will have a little bit of a tilcuate regardless you got to go into this load for to create energy for power so we're going to go back stroke and foot strike from here we're going to go right up to our ball shelf okay this is our number two point so this is Pastor this is the ideal position right before you're going to drive the ball out of the grey and transfer Ground Force into rotational Force has five things that you can do to be a better QB and we were on the field but the lights literally just shut off on us if I'm more important I can be training or you want to check out the in page for Next Level athletix definitely what's the how do you spell it NXT level ATX Charlie horse in description Dragon next song check out my football ticket Friday video playlist and I'll see you guys next time
